Van Ru maintains close contact with the needs of the different segments of the collection industry through active involvement in numerous industry groups, committees, workshops and conferences. In addition to company affiliations, various Van Ru officers are individually affiliated with the Commercial Law League of America, the National Association of Retail Collection Attorneys, the State Bar of Illinois, the Chicago Bar, the American Collectors Association Member Attorney Program (MAP) and the Society of Credit and Collection Professionals.

Van Ru is also affiliated with numerous local and regional industry groups, and members of its management regularly attend, exhibit and present at conferences sponsored by these organizations.
