FTC Invites Van Ru Corporate Counsel to Represent Credit and Collection Industry at Historic Workshop

Des Plaines, IL October 8, 2007 - Van Ru Credit Corporation’s Vice President, Counsel, Lawrence Laskey, has accepted an invitation from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to represent the credit and collection industry at the commission’s upcoming workshop, Collecting Consumer Debts: The Challenges of Change.

Laskey is one of fewer than 50 panelists who will offer information and answer questions about the evolution of technology and its impact on the collection industry, creditors and consumers since passage of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) in 1977. Laskey has 28 years of corporate legal experience, including over 11 of years of service within the collection industry. In addition to being a long-term member of the American Collectors Association, he also is a member of the ACA Member Attorney Program (MAP) and a member of the National Council of Higher Education Loan Programs (NCHELP), serving as a long-time member of the NCHELP Debt Management Committee. Laskey obtained his Juris Doctor from Syracuse University, New York and his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
